Anger Management and Depression are areas where I have enjoyed working with clients. Counselling can have very good results in coping with both anger and depression. Having suffered from Post - Natal Depression myself, this is an area where I have a particular interest. There is more information on some of the specific areas in which I specialise on the other pages on this site. There are links to these pages on the left. Details of my fees are on my FAQ's and Fees page. There is also some information on controlling anger, reducing stress and treatment for Post Natal Depression - these can be accessed from the pages specific to those areas.

What is Counselling?

Counselling involves talking to someone about your problems. Talking helps you think more clearly. It also helps you express and understand your feelings. Counselling is often referred to as the talking therapy.

Whilst it is hard to comment on whether counselling can help a particular individual I have always taken great pleasure from seeing my clients making progress towards resolving issues that have prevented them from leading full lives. However, it is difficult to assess whether I can help until until I meet you and talk about your specific areas of concern. I therefore usually recommend an initial assessment. I am always happy to have an initial discussion by telephone (or email) to assess if I am likely to be able to help with your particular circumstances.

As an individual member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) I am bound by their ethical framework for good practice for counsellors and psychotherapists and subject to their professional conduct procedure. Therefore anything that you discuss is completely confidential. I am required to receive professional supervision which ensures that I receive the necessary support to enable me to offer the best service to my clients. However, if your case is discussed, I will never identify your name or reveal any other details which could identify you. Also in very exceptional circumstances I may be legally required to reveal information. This will only be done in accordance with strict legal requirements.

How can a Counsellor help you?

By listening to what you have to say.
Helping you to explore how you feel and why you feel that way.
Enabling you to think about ways of coping or changes that you could make.

Training, Qualifications & Experience

I have an Advanced Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (2004), and a Certificate in Counselling Skills (2002). I am also a qualified Nursery Nurse having completed my NNEB (Nursery Nurse Examination Board) in 1984. I have had extensive experience of counselling young people (14 years upwards) as well as adults. I have run a support group for women with Post Natal Depression and have worked for a Rape and Sexual Abuse telephone helpline.
